Sarah has always had a passion for books, reading from a young age and not stopping. After moving to Canberra and finishing university, Sarah worked at and managed several Angus & Robertson stores in the Canberra region, and enjoyed not using her degree at all. Sarah has since worked in government and parliamentary roles for nearly twenty years (it's the Canberra way!) and during some long service leave in 2024, started working casually in the local bookshop. In mid-2024, Sarah also attended Reading Retreats Australia's Bimbadeen retreat and fell in love with the concept, the people and the location. 

 

Realising how great it is to be (back) in the book world, Sarah now works part-time in her parliamentary job, casually in the bookshop, and is the owner of Reading Retreats Australia after taking over from Katie and Emily. Sarah shadowed Katie and Emily throughout the year before taking on the business as the owner from September 2025. Katie and Emily are never far away, which is great - they have created a wonderful, unique space for readers and it's such an honour to continue their work and do their business proud.
